Volunteering to serve with GYS
Coaches: GYS needs coaches every year. All teams are coached by volunteers and every year we are looking for parents to volunteer to coach their kids' teams. Many partents are nervous about coaching because they did not play soccer growing up, or feel like they don't know enough about the game. Please don't let that discourage you. GYS offers coach's clinics and online resources for new coaches. What's most important is your willingness to give of your time. If you are willing to serve as a coach this year, please let us know on registration day when you come to register your player(s).
Directors: Each year there are a few openings for Division Directors on the GYS Board. The Division Director is responsibile for the coordination of coaches, reporting scores, distributing trophies, and other tasks essential to the organization and leadership of one division withing GYS. Directors also attend bi-monthly Board meetings and participate in decision making and planning for the league. The Official GYS Bylaws outline the specific responsibilities of each board position. If you are interested in volunteering to fill a Division Director position, please contact the Board Vice President via email.
