- Attend Meetings Regularly
- Coaches List and Number of Teams: Division Directors receive a list of parents, with phone numbers and email addresses (when available), that sign up to coach or assist coaching, as well as the number of teams that will be in the Division.
- Recruiting Coaches: Division Directors are responsible for recruiting coaches for each team in their Division. If there are not enough volunteers on the provided Coaches List (see above), then the Director must pursue other avenues for recruiting coaches. Suggestions for recruiting are generally shared among the Directors at pre-season Board Meetings.
- Coaches Packets: At the Board Meeting that preceeds the Coaches Meeting, Directors are expected to participate in the assembly of the packets that wil lbe passed out at the meeting.
- Coaches Meeting: Directors need to attend the Coaches Meeting, and make sure all of their coaches attend the meeting. Coaches will receive lots of information about the upcoming season, and will receive their team gear. Directors should meet with their coaches at the meeting to pass out their team packets, schedule their practice times, and share other important information. If there are coaches that cannot attend the meeting, the Director should gather their team gear, and coordinate with the coach to get the gear and packet to them before the first week of practices.
- Adjusting Teams: The Director will coordinate any team problems with the coaches and resolve those issues with the Player Agent (coaches should not be contacting the Player Agent with team problems). For example, players of the wrong age or gender, players with bad contact information, etc.
- Beginning the Season: Directors need to inform their coaches when they can start practices. These types of dates are decided and communicated at Board Meetings, and distributed to the Directors via email. If you are unclear on any of these kinds of dates, please contact the President or Vice President to get the information and pass it on to your coaches. Do not tell your coaches to call the President or VP for this kind of information.
- Scores: Beginning with the 2010 season, coaches will be asked to enter the scores from their games via the website. Directors will handle any conflicts regarding scores. If two coaches disagree regarding the score of a game, the Director should contact the Head Official or Assistant Head Official and request that she or he check the Referee's Card for the game in question. The score on the Referee's Card is the official score for the game.
- Picture Day: Directors will inform their coaches of the location for Picture Day, and the time that their team is scheduled for their picture. Directors will help resolve any scheduling conflicts between picture times and game times for their teams. Assistance from Directors at the location on Picture Day is appreciated.
- Distribution of Pictures: Directors will make sure each coach receives their team's pictures
- Upper Division (13 - 17) End of Season: The season ends earlier for the upper divisions. Directors should be aware of this, and make sure their coaches are aware as well.
- Daylight Savings Time: After the time change, the practice schedule will change as well. Each team will be assigned one day per week to practice at night on a lighted field. Teams may practice a second day if a field is available and no other practices, games or make-up games are disrupted. The Director will coordinate these practice schedules for their division in consultation with the Field Coordinator.
- Standings: Directors should keep track of the results and standings for their division. Directors will resolve conflicts between coaches, clarify tie-breaker rules, and coordinate extra playoff games when necessary. Staying on top of the standings will make your life much easier at the end of the season.
- Tie Breakers: Directors need to be sure their coaches understand the tie-breaker policy and procedures (click here to read them). Season trophies are awarded to the First and Second Place teams only.
- Evaluation Cards & All Star Rankings: Directors need to make sure their coaches complete an Evaluation Card in a timely manner. The Post Season Coordinator will establish a due date. Teams that do not turn in their Eval Cards by the due date will not be eligible to send players to the All Star game. Directors are responsible for following up with coaches to get the cards turned in.
- All Star Selections: Director's need to inform their first and second place coaches that they will be coaching the All Star teams, and date, time and location for All Star selections. A player that is selected for the All Star team via the Eval Cards may only be replaced if he or she chooses not to participate.
- Cup Championship and Consolation: Directors should know the times and places for their Division's Championship and Consolation games, and communicate this information to the coaches. Directors should attend these games if at all possible. Be sure you know the overtime rules, and be sure that the coaches and referees know them as well, before the game starts. Cup Champions receive trophies, second, third and fourth place teams in the Cup receive medals.
- Glendora Parade: All players, coaches and Directors are invited to participate. Encourage your coaches to participate, and to invite their players to participate.
- All Stars Festival: The All Star games are friendly games. Encourage your coaches to invite their teams to attend the All Star games to cheer for their teammates and enjoy a fun day.
